The Hawaii Community College Culture Club and the Hiroshima University of Economics will host the Hiroshima Okonomiyaki Festival from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at the Manono campus.
The event, organized to help raise funds for Hawaii CC students to study in Japan, will feature authentic Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki prepared by HCC culinary arts students and students from Hiroshima.
Hiroshima is famous for okonomiyaki, which is a savory grilled omelet. Students from Hiroshima also will assist with an origami workshop and Puna Taiko will perform.
Purchasing a $5 ticket will help HCC students participate in a cultural study program at Hiroshima University of Economics. The Hiroshima-Hawaii Cultural Exchange Project at HUE aims to strengthen historical ties between Hiroshima and Hawaii.
Tickets can be purchased at the HCC Information Center; unsold tickets might be available at the door.
